The house was going on the market and the photographer was already booked. Years of moss on the retaining walls, a hard date to hit, and beds full of plants that could not be replaced in time.
Retaining wall block is porous, it sits low, and it stays damp. Moss finds it before it finds anything else on a property, and it settles hardest on the cap stones where water pools after every rain. Years of it had gone from a green tinge to a mat thick enough to hide the color of the block underneath. None of it threatened the wall. But it was the first thing anyone walking up the drive would see, and listing photos are taken from exactly that angle.
Wall type, how deep the growth had gone, and how much time there was before the photos. A listing date is not a date that moves.
Hydrangeas, hostas and every bed along the walls saturated with plain water first. This is the step that decides whether the plants come through it.
The solution does the work on the growth. Pressure only as much as the block will take, which is more than siding and far less than people assume.
Walls, edging and every bed rinsed down thoroughly again, so nothing was left sitting on a leaf or in the soil.

A few days is enough. The walls need to be dry for the photos and the beds want a day to settle, so anything up to a week ahead works. What does not work is the morning of.
Not the way it is done here. Everything gets soaked with plain water before any solution is mixed, again while the work is happening, and thoroughly once more at the end. On this job the beds ran the length of both walls and came through it.
More than siding, far less than people assume. It is porous, and too much pressure opens the surface up so the next season's growth has somewhere better to sit. Solution first, pressure matched to the block.
